To ensure your cutting board remains in excellent condition, clean it thoroughly using lukewarm water and a gentle soap. After washing, let the board air dry completely. It's important to avoid washing it in the dishwasher or submerging it in water, as prolonged exposure to moisture can damage the board.
If a cutting board has accumulated too many deep scratches, it can be restored to a smooth surface by sanding with steel wool, an orbital sander, or a piece of sandpaper. Our boards are finely sanded to a finish using 400-grit sandpaper.
After sanding, apply a thin layer of cutting board oil; we recommend using Cutting Board Oil and Wax for our products. Be sure to follow the instructions on the bottle. For additional protection and shine, apply a layer of Cutting Board Wood Wax once the oil has dried.
Once the wood finish has dried, remove any remaining residue. Your cutting board is now prepared for use! For extended durability, repeat these maintenance steps periodically. It is advisable to condition your board with oil and wax after every six to eight uses to maintain its quality and extend its life.
